Coding is incorporated into the elementary and secondary curriculum beginning in Grade 1. For these learners, computing concepts and tools are used to solve problems, automate tasks, visualize data, or simulate events through writing and executing code and reading and altering existing code. In one example, students TAKE NOTICE of how making changes to code on their control board affects the outcomes of their coding robot.
Technology helps to enhance student learning. Students KEEP LEARNING innovatively with the support of technologies such as iPads. DSB1 is proud to support students with a 1-1 iPad ratio in Grades 4 to 12, a 2-1 iPad ratio for students in Grades 1 to 3, and five iPads per class for Junior and Senior Kindergarten learners. Students use technology to CONNECT and collaborate with peers in a variety of creative and innovative ways.
How can you “fill your plate” to BE ACTIVE and GIVE through coding and technology?
